Griffin Thomas Hayes, 27, formerly of Carmel, IN, died Sunday, Sept. 2 in Wilmington, NC. He was born June 20, 1991, in Indianapolis, the son of Charles and Mary Hayes. He attended Carmel High School and Cape Fear Community College and found his true love in the kitchen. Locally, he worked as a cook for Brockway Pub and Petite Chou. In North Carolina, he served as sous chef in a number of restaurants.
Griffin will be remembered for his generous heart, keen intellect, razor-sharp sense of humor and incredible risottos. He is survived by his parents, sister Elle Hayes (Chicago, IL), and step-mother Cathi Hauck. Services will be held Thursday, Sept. 13 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Carmel with a calling beginning at 1:00 pm and service to follow at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Patachou Foundation, 4923 N College Avenue, Ste. 25, Indianapolis, IN 46205, or St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 4780 E. 126th Street, Carmel, IN 46033.
